RIO COSTILLA PARK
Rio Costilla Park consists of 10,000 acres filled with vast mountain ranges, lush wilderness, calming streams and nine nature made lakes (Latir Lakes) in northern New Mexico located in Amalia, New Mexico, 14 miles from Costilla, New Mexico . Rio Costilla Park opens May 1st thru September 7th.
The Latir lakes and Little Blue Lake open tenitvely mid-June or first of July depending on the road conditions and the spawing of our native fish. We recommend that you call to confirm opening dates. Fishing along the Costilla River and inside the RCCLA Park requrire a New Mexico Fishing License.
Our campgrounds consist of a designated fire rings. Some have grills, and some have small canopies. Fire restrictions may apply at any time; we encourage visitors to come prepared. Park sites are first come first serve.
Annual passes are available, contact the RCCLA office for prices.
RCCLA Park entrance is self serviced. Please stop by at the main park gate, read the rules and regulations while you fill out your park permit.
Driving Directions
From Fort Garlland, Colorado drive south for 35 miles on Hwy 159 into Costilla, New Mexico Hwy 522, turn left on State Road 196 go 14 miles to Park entrance.
From Taos, New Mexico drive north 40 miles on Hwy 522 into Costilla, New Mexico, turn right on State Road 196 go 14 miles to Park entrance.
