CIBOLA COUNTY - This year's Fourth of July festivities will offer four days of family fun. Audience members can watch the action at the Grants' Rodeo Grounds. on Saturday, featuring the rodeo act and performance at the rodeo arena. Jamie Holton, Grants Rodeo Association, noted the Grants rodeo is the oldest continually held Fourth of July celebration in the state. For 85 years the rodeo association has provided leadership for the parade and the chamber has assisted. The parade is scheduled to begin promptly at 9 a.m. and end before the start of area church services. Residents can watch as more than 100 entries line up for the procession, which starts at High Street. The display of Cibola County pride is followed by family-friendly activities in the downtown parks and the day ends at the golf course with live music, food and the ever-popular fireworks. Community members of all ages are guaranteed fun and excitement at this year's celebration. The good times begin at the rodeo grounds and continue through the weekend. The last scheduled events will be the junior rodeo competitions. For information on schedule of holiday events call Grants/Cibola Chamber of Commerce at 505-287-4802.
