Many of the trails are cobbled, but even the dirt trails are maintained and are relatively flat.
This bosque is lush with old cottonwoods, wild roses, and Russian olive. With 5.5 miles of trail along the Animas River from Berg Park on the west to Animas Park on the east, it is a beautiful area for hiking, biking, running, rafting/canoeing/kayaking, horseback riding, photography, fishing, and bird watching. Several annual events are held along its banks, including Riverfest in May, Ren Faire in September, and River Glow in December. It includes the All Veterans Memorial Park and several instalations of public art.

There is a nature center for learning more about the plants and animals of the area, and hiking, biking, running, rafting/canoeing/kayaking, horseback riding, photography, fishing, and bird watching are popular actvities.
