The Sophia Peace Center is dedicated to practices that improve the environment and health of its community at large. SPC has begun a long-term permaculture project with the development of orchards, water encatchment, low flow toilets, solar lighting, no-impact water filtration systems and drip irrigation. The SPC not only recycles but actually uses several tons of cardboard from local businesses in permaculture practices, turning the cardboard back into fertile earth. The goal is for the Sophia Peace Center to be fully sustainable, eco-friendly and in addition, improving the land it resides on. SPC meals are made fresh, using many local ingredients, and as much organic produce as possible.
