It's that time of the year where the plants are maturing and the sheep have been sheared. It's workshop time! I am hosting my annual workshops from July 24-29, 2012 in Oak Springs, AZ and St. Michaels, AZ. The "Navajo Dyeing" workshop will be held July 24-25 in Oak Springs, AZ. The "Introduction to Navajo Weaving" workshop will be held July 26-29 in St. Michaels, AZ.

This workshop is an intense hands-on workshop where the participant has to pick and dig for plants. Participant will learn to identify plants and prepare plants for dyeing. All fibers such as locally-bred Navajo-Churro wool are provided and you keep. Isabel Deschinny's dye booklet, "NATIVE PLANT DYES, Series 1: Introduction", provided and you keep.

This workshop is an intense hands-on workshop where the participant will learn how to ply yarns, learn how to make a warp, learn how to set-up a loom, learn how to weave blocks and diagonals and learn how to finish a rug. Professional loom and tools are provided and you keep. All yarns, warp string, needles, rope, supplies and materials are provided and you keep. Photos of the loom and tools to be used are attached.
