Giggling Springs Hot Springs

The Giggling Springs is a natural outdoor hot mineral spring pool located in the heart of the mountain village of Jemez Springs, NM. Most people come to these mountains for one of two reasons...either to relax, or to exert themselves...and either way, a hot spring soak fits right in! It's naturally relaxing and therapeutic, and it's great for muscles that have been given a work-out.
Mother Nature is the resident therapist here at The Giggling Springs, so take an hour or two and soak up Her natural hot mineral water while gazing at the stunning views of Her breathtaking mountains and mesas in every direction. She'll have the nearby Jemez River happily sing its rambling song for you and before you know it, you'll find your insides giggling!
This is a place of quiet relaxation--a place to rest and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit, and a place to reconnect with the natural elements of earth, air, fire and water.
The property is the site of the oldest bath house in the area. It was built in the mid 1800's and still stands at the end of the driveway. Back then, the stagecoach brought people out here from Albuquerque. Before that, the Native Americans of the area used these waters for healing. They considered the hot springs to be sacred, and so do we.
The Giggling Springs is an eco-friendly business that's regulated by the State of New Mexico for cleanliness and safety. No harsh chemicals or chlorine are used here. Ultraviolet light, ionizers and an oxygen inversion system are used to disinfect the water, and the pool is completely drained and scrubbed each week. The business utilizes other "green technologies" as well. In 2008, a partnership formed with Sandia National Labs of Albuquerque concluded with the installation of an award winning goethermal system that heats the four buildings on the property using the natural, clean heat from the water. (See video for more info and photos on the geothermal project). Much attention is also paid to the comfort and care of the guests who come to this special place. Some of the most appreciated conveniences of "taking the waters" here are:
*There is no hiking required.
*The number of people allowed in at any one time is limited so it doesn't feel crowded.
*There's a nearby cabin with a restroom and shower and a place to change your clothes.
(Swim suits or other appropriate attire are required).
*A convenient gift shop, with both necessities and unique, artistic extravagances, is located on site.
*Restaurants and lodging are within easy walking distance.
*A "drink flag" is available at the pool and beverages can be served to you when desired.
*An Australian Shade Sail covers about half of the pool during the summer months.
*There are two hand carved ramada's for shade near the pool.
*Chairs and hammocks are provided, along with a picnic table near the river.
*Floating chairs are available for use in the pool.
*And the cool river is just steps away---a convenient cold plunge!
