In carrying out the strong agricultural tradition of the Ancestral Puebloan people who lived in the Mesa Verde area until around 1300 A.D., for today's farmers, ranchers and vintners, agriculture is truly a cultural thing! A visit to Mesa Verde Country is not complete without experiencing the bounty of the area and the Cortez Farmers market is an excellent way to taste, touch, and savor local favors. All produce at the market is local, grown either in Montezuma or Dolores counties, and sold by the producers. Entertainment is provided weekly by local musicians. Fresh rosted coffee and baked goods are also available.
