A new lodging alternative near Ojo Caliente, our 7 charming casitas (deluxe cabins) are located on 1200 acres along the Rio Ojo Caliente. A perfect place for visiting family & friends, weddings & reunions -- or for your personal retreat -- Cliff River Springs is just 1 hour north of Santa Fe, 50 minutes west of Taos, and mere minutes from the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Spa. Our delightful casitas all have full kitchens, private baths, and access to endless opportunities for hiking, photography, birding, painting and -- very important -- resting.
You can walk anywhere you like on the land. If you can see it, you can hike to it. There are printed handouts describing walks that take you into canyons, along the river, and up on ridgelines with spectacular views. (It's very hard to get lost here.) Or, just enjoy a swim in the pond and a nap in a hammock. At night, the dark star-filled sky will thrill the astronomer in you.
We'll provide breakfast in your fridge for your first morning and produce from our organic farm. Expect to experience the beauty of this place on your terms, at your pace. You'll have your own code for leaving and entering the property so you can head off to explore the Rio Grande Gorge, buy a snack in Abiquiu at Bode's, or take the waters at the Ojo Spa as you will. Land of unparalleled beauty, yours to explore!

We are committed to supporting the locally sourced food movement through the presence of Ancient Waters Farm, the organic farm on our property. We recycle and practice water conservation by employing the natural springs surface water on our property to irrigate our fruit trees, farm fields, and pastures. Our unused private spring water is directed to the Rio Ojo Caliente for common public use. We line dry in the sun, wind (and sometimes snow!) all our sheets and towels to save electricity and wear.
Locally or Family Owned Business Notes
Cliff River Springs is located on a northern New Mexico cattle ranch owned by three generations of our family since 1959. In recent years we have been diversifying our means of caring for this large property. We still run cattle in our valley in the winter, but now also have four acres in food production and the casita guest houses to help sustain us. Diversification of income sources is the key for families struggling to maintain land intact. We are committed to sharing with others the wondrous beauty found in the land, wildlife and silence all around us.
ADA Accessibility Notes
Cliff East is our ADA compatible casita. It is 360 square feet with a full kitchen, large private bathroom and sheltered south-facing porch.
