The Bear Creek Preserve is located out of the backyard of Telluride, Colorado. Purchased in 1995 by the San Miguel Conservation Foundation, it was put into a conservation easement and then conveyed to the Town of Telluride to be preserved as public open space forever. Bear Creek is a spectacular natural area with an abundance of educational and recreational opportunities.
Hiking, Mountian Biking, Rock Climbing, Ice Climbing, Skiing, and Photography are popular activities with locals and visitors alike. The Telluride Parks and Recreation Department also offers a Junior Bear Creek Ranger Program for kids interested in protecting this area in its natural state.
